Boracay, The Philippines

December 06, 2017

Hey there! Its been a while since i've posted but anyways, earlier this June, together with a friend, we headed down to Boracayyyy!

(It's pronounced as "BO-RA-CAI" for crying out loud! So sick of people constantly saying it as "Boraycay" )

I've heard much wonders about the island, from relatives and friends so I figured that i should try!!

Getting There:

From Kalibo International Airport:
1. Take a van/bus to Caticlan (1.5 to 2 hours).
2. 15 minutes by ferry/boat to Boracay. :

It's slightly further, however, transportation is not a problem because there are plenty of options in Kalibo.

From Caticlan Airport:
Caticlan is a barangay in the main island of Panay that is closest to Boracay.

1. Take a 15 minutes boat/ferry

*Note: Plane tickets tend to be more expensive!

Modes Of Transport in Boracay:

1. Walk
The whole island is about 7km (apparently) so you can try that and its free!!!!

2. Tricycles and Motor Bikes
The 2 most common modes of transport in the whole island.
A ride from 1 section to another costs no more than 100 Php. (It's actually quite ex than the usual Philippine charges)

*TIP: jump in one of those Tricyles that do multiple drop offs for passengers. You save 50% of your fare!

3. Boats
You can rent a boat for a day and explore all the different beaches if you want! No idea how much it'll costs but i mean you can always bargain.

Things to do in Boracay:

1. Get Drunk

Philippines is filthy cheap!! So time to get your booze on!!!!
A huge bucket of any liquor costs like SGD 10?!?!?!
HOHOHOHO

I got drunk every night.

2. Make some friends (while drunk)

Boy, I was crazy drunk that night.
I honestly dont know any of these people, but I would say Im grateful for them because they actually bothered to bring me home...after finishing the whole bottle of absolute vodka... JEEEZ

3. EAT EAT and EAT

There's just waaaaaaaaaaaay too much good food in Boracay to really recommend, mainly non-spicy (because no one does spicy food best than Singapore hehe)

Everytime i go back to Philippines, usually the only thing i look forward to having most of the time is Street-side Pinoy Barbecue!

Jucy, tender, and OH-SO delicious! Smothered in spicy sweet sauce, cooked to perfection..mmmhhhmmmm

Plus! they are cheap, like dirt cheap.

4. Cliff Jumping
My friend and were really looking forward to it, BUT it got cancelled due to rough waters as it was considered Monsoon.

S I G H

So Imho, best time to go to Boracay for Cliff jumping is from Jan till March/late April. It's much sunny, and waters are less rocky

5. Get your tan on!

The sun was AH-mazing!
I absolutely love being at the beach (usually i hate it but idk why i don't)

The waters are crystal clear, the sad is as soft as a baby's butt, the sun is scorch as ever! It was perfection at it's best!

But what i hate about it, is the fact that Boracay is way too Touristy to the point you can't have your own privacy and the fact that it's more expensive than usual, because duh, tourist destination.

6. Get your milkshake to bring the boys to your yard

UGH SO GOOD.
SO GOOD
SO FREAKING GOOD
nuff said

Station 1 Beachfront
Prices start from 120PHP

7. Water activities!

Water activities tend to be a lot pricier in Boracay than i expected.
My friend and I opt for seabed walking in which they tried to charge us SGD 50 /pax !
HELLL NAWWW!

Thankfully my friend is expert at bargaining so that skill really benefited us.

(I don't have pictures sadly due to the fact that I deleted them before saving a copy #Bodoh )

8. Enjoy Life

Sit back, relax and enjoy the sunset.

Duh, then why would you be travelling?!

Overall, Boracay was pretty lit, lit as in alcohol intensed.
Never a dull night in this Island!

till then
